Ziplock bag or vacuum seal

Sous vide is a French name and literally means 'under vacuum'. When something is vacuumed, there is no air left in it. Do you want to cook sous vide? Then your job is to remove as much air as possible from the vacuum bag.

'Should I buy a vacuum sealing machine ?' No. This is not a requirement, but it is very useful. Airtight packaging can be done in various ways, although a vacuum sealing machine is the best solution.

What works better: ziplock or vacuum sealing?

In principle, both work well. However, with a vacuum sealer more air can be removed than when this is done with our trick method. Some other advantages of a vacuum sealer:

  • Products stay fresh longer
  • You can marinate your products in just a few minutes
  • Your products have a longer shelf life if you freeze them

It is therefore useful to buy a vacuum sealer , but for sous vide cooking, resealable sous vide bags are in principle sufficient.

Nee, de Souvy sous vide zakken geven geen ongezonde reactie. De reden hiervoor is dat het plastic wat gebruikt wordt een FDA goedgekeurd materiaal is. Pas wel op, niet alle sous vide zakken (van andere aanbieders bijvoorbeeld) zijn van dergelijk kwalitatief en vooral veilig materiaal gemaakt.
