Sweet potato fries from the oven

Ah, the sweet potato. In this recipe, we transform this humble vegetable into crispy fries with a soft interior. The outer layer is crispy and golden brown, while the inside remains soft and velvety.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, pepper and paprika powder

Preparation:

  1. Preparation: Preheat the oven to 220 °C. Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into equal fries.
  2. Baking: Spread the fries on a baking sheet and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

These tips will make your sweet potato fries really crispy:

  • Cut evenly. You should cut your sweet potatoes into equal strips of half a centimeter. This will ensure an even baking time and each chip will be nice and crispy.
  • Soak the fries. Once cut, soak the fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes or leave overnight. This removes excess starch and ensures better crispiness.
  • Bake in an even layer. Make sure to spread the fries out in an even layer on one baking sheet, with a little space between each fry.
  • Turn the fries over. About halfway through baking, remove the baking sheet from the oven and turn each chip over.
  • Cooling down. Once the fries are fully cooked, let them cool at room temperature for 2 minutes to make them even crispier.
