Bruschetta: a classic with tomato and basil

  • 1 baguette or ciabatta
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3-4 ripe tomatoes
  • A handful of fresh basil leaves
  • Olive oil, extra virgin
  • Salt and black pepper


  1. The bread -

    Cut the baguette or ciabatta diagonally into slices of about 1 cm thick. Toast the bread slices in a grill pan or under the grill until golden brown and crispy.

  2. The garlic -

    Peel the garlic cloves and rub them over the toasted buns.

  3. The tomatoes -

    Cut the tomatoes into small cubes and place them in a bowl. Chop the basil finely and add it to the tomatoes. Then sprinkle the tomato-basil mixture with olive oil, salt and pepper and mix well.

  4. Making the bruschetta -

    Divide the tomato-basil mixture over the toasted buns. If necessary, drizzle some extra olive oil over the bruschetta and serve immediately.
