Cold brewed coffee

sous-vide-koffie

Cold brew coffee, unlike espresso, is mixed with lower-temperature water. This eliminates the bitter, sour flavor. Cold brew coffee is therefore not the same as iced coffee. With iced coffee, the preparation is hot and then cooled. Cold brew coffee can be kept refrigerated for days without losing its flavor. In this recipe, we'll make a sous vide coffee concentrate! You can then mix this with water, milk, or both!

Ingredients

  • 125 g freshly ground coffee beans
  • 1 l water
  • coffee filter

Preparation

Preheat

Preheat the sous vide appliance to 66 degrees Celsius. Divide the ground coffee and water equally between two jars.

In the water bath

Let the coffee brew for 2.5 hours at 66 degrees Celsius. Remove the lid and pour the coffee through a coffee filter.

Serve

You now have a cold-brewed coffee concentrate. You can process this in several ways.

Option 1: Add the same amount of hot water as concentrate and serve as hot coffee.

Option 2: Add the same amount of cold water as concentrate and serve as iced coffee.

Option 3: Add the same amount of hot water as concentrate and hot milk for a cappuccino.

Option 3: Store immediately in a sealed container in the refrigerator and consume later. The concentrate can be stored in the refrigerator for about 10 days.
